Filippi: I can push for a podium now...

Luca Filippi will start Saturday's penultimate race of the season from fourth place after a successful qualifying session at his home circuit of Monza, which saw the Trust Team Arden man claim the second row of the grid after a rain delayed free practice session.

An extraordinarily heavy storm before free practice saw both the paddock and the circuit flooded with water, leaving the teams stranded for almost an hour as they waited for the water to disperse.

A delayed free practice saw Filippi drive well within himself to give the team the relevant information for this circuit, but when the sunshine returned in the afternoon the Italian was in his element.

"It was a great qualifying session today," Filippi reflected, "obviously I love this circuit very much and couldn't wait to get out there today: it was a shame about the rain this morning but I was still in the top ten even though I was being a bit careful, and then in qualifying I could show exactly what I can do here.

"I was second for most of the session, and even though I had some traffic on my second set I am still just two tenths off the pole.

"For sure we could have been even faster today, but on the second set it was a bit stop, go, stop, go. But anyway I am quite happy with the result today, and tomorrow I am sure that we can make a good race and push for a podium at least.

"I have to thank the team for the work they have done today, and I hope to give them their reward tomorrow," he concluded.
