F3 runner-up Mortara joins Arden.

Formula 3 Euroseries runner-up Edoardo Mortara will make his GP2 Series debut this weekend after signing up to compete with Arden for the remainder of the season.

The Italian, who challenged the might of ART with his Volkswagen-powered Signature-Plus car in F3 this season, will graduate to GP2 during the latest round of the Asia Series in Bahrain.

Replacing Renger van der Zande, who enjoyed a one-off race deal at Dubai, and joining Luiz Razia, Mortara was delighted to be moving up a category with a multiple race winning team.

“I am pleased to have signed with Arden International Motorsport to compete in the Gp2 Asia series. As a rookie, I am determined to learn and progress in this new category. I am sure Arden will support me in this new venture.”

Arden, runners-up with Sebastien Buemi last season, have endured a tough start to their 2008/09 campaign and are yet to score in the first three races of the season.
