Roberto Merhi will return to the FIA Formula 2 championship this weekend at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, stepping in for Sergio Canamasas at Rapax.

Merhi, 26, made 13 Formula 1 starts with the Manor team in 2015 before moving into the FIA World Endurance Championship the following year, only to return to single-seaters in F2 earlier this season.

The Spaniard appeared in Barcelona for Campos, and will now return to F1’s premier feeder category with Rapax in Belgium this weekend. Merhi replaces Canamasas, who misses Spa due to personal issues.
