Maiden GP2 win for Adrian Quaife-Hobbs

Minor incidents during the race saw new boy Sergio Campani squeezed onto the grass by his own Trident team mate Nathanael Berthon and Daniel de Jong slide sideways into the first chicane run-off, but all cars actually finished the race - even Calado, who was re-fired in the pit lane after stalling at the start and subsequently tried a Hail May pass with a wet tyre gamble during the brief rain shower which proved entirely in vain. His ART team mate Daniel Abt had no better luck, given a ten-second penalty for not having his tyres properly fitted at the three-minute warning before the race.

With Coletti, Nasr, Calado, Richelmi, Ericsson, Jon Lancaster (Hilmer Motorsport) and Jolyon Palmer (Carlin) all finishing outside the points on Sunday, only three drivers in the top ten managed to score in the sprint race. That consolidates Leimer and Bird's new positions at the head of the table and also promotes Dillmann up to sixth, although he's very unlikely to become a factor in the title battle with only the Singapore and Yas Marina weekends remaining.
