Abu Dhabi GP2 Final - Race results (2)

13 November 2011

Britain's James Calado led from lights-to-flag to win the sprint race component of the GP2 Final Abu Dhabi weekend, holding up under pressure first from fellow GP3 graduate António Félix da Costa and later from GP2 series regular Marcus Ericsson to claim the chequered flag.

In a solid, entertaining race, all drivers seemed determined to show their race craft and professionalism throughout and there were few incidents - at least not until a suddenly wild and chaotic last lap that started with Fabio Leimer and Alexander Rossi tussling over fifth, and ended with Leimer colliding with Stefano Coletti and the whole of the lower top ten running order getting a last minute shake-up before the finish.

That will doubtless mean post-race investigations playing a part in deciding the final results.
