GP2 » Monaco - Race results (2)

Two separate first lap accidents in the Monaco sprint race thinned the field and gave iSport's Jolyon Palmer the perfect opportunity to claim his first GP2 Series victory.
After one accident at Ste. Devote took care of polesitter Stéphane Richelmi and James Calado, iSport's Jolyon Palmer was then fortunate enough to be ahead of a major multi-car wreck at Massenet sparked by a spinning Johnny Cecotto Jr. that took out Davide Valsecchi and brought out an inevitable safety car.

These incidents together with other drivers' later solo brushes with the Armco barriers meant that only 12 of the 26 cars made it to the end of the Monaco sprint race. Palmer had enjoyed a ten second lead at one point, and while he eased off and allowed Carlin's Max Chilton to close to within a second by the chequered flag there was never any doubt about Palmer's maiden series victory.
