Hockenheim - Qualifying times

Caterham Racing's Giedo van der Garde just managed to steal pole position from Lotus GP's James Calado with a well-timed run during a rain-hit Friday qualifying session.
Rain dominated the GP2 qualifying session at Hockenheim, with conditions briefly reaching their best of the afternoon nine minutes in to allow Caterham's Giedo van der Garde to set a time of 1:44.022s and pip Lotus GP's James Calado for pole position by just 0.012s.

Calado will in any case have to serve a ten-place starting grid penalty for Saturday's race, as will his team mate Esteban Gutiérrez, after both were judged to have caused accidents in the last sprint race at Silverstone. Calado's place on the front row will instead be taken up by Racing Engineering's Fabio Leimer.

After that the rain set in once more and conditions deteriorated again, leaving the rest of the session something of a wash-out and an anti-climax.
