Hungary - Race results (2)

29 July 2012

Lotus GP's Esteban Gutiérrez claimed the sprint race win at the Hungaroring, having a seemingly untroubled time of it as he converted pole position to a comfortable lead and never putting a foot wrong from there.

Racing Engineering's Nathanael Berthon had an impressively assured run in second place, while for the final podium position Arden's Luiz Razia had to wait until Caterham driver Giedo van der Garde's option tyres fell off the proverbial cliff in the final third of the race before he could make his move.

Razia's main rival for the GP2 drivers' title this season, Davide Valsecchi in the DAMS car, took several laps longer in getting past the slower cars to finish in fourth place and keep his championship hopes alive, but he was released too late in the race to have any hope of hunting down Razia for a last-lap shootout.
