Monza - Friday practice

Max Chilton set the early pace at Monza in his Carlin, setting the fastest lap of the Friday morning practice session before the midway point ahead of DAMS' Felipe Nasr.
Max Chilton's early flying lap of 1:31.850s in Friday morning GP2 practice at Monza was the best of the half hour session, and proved too good for anyone to better later in as proceedings were hit by local yellows for Lotus GP's James Calado and Caterham's Rodolfo Gonzalez spinning off through gravel traps and stopping.

Luca Filippi finished a strong third place in his first outing in a GP2 car for a year on his return to Coloni, while Nigel Melker returned after his massive crash last week in the feature race at Spa to ease himself back in to action at Ocean Racing. Series newcomer Jake Rosenzweig footed the timesheets after taking over the Barwa Addax #2 from Spa sprint race winner Josef Kral this weekend.
