A dreadful start for polesitter Luca Filippi enabled Carlin's Max Chilton and Lotus GP's Esteban Guti?rrez to take control of the Saturday feature race in Singapore, and they continued in charge through two safety car periods before taking the chequered flag ahead of Fabio Leimer.

Davide Valsecchi played a cagey race and made sure that he always had one eye on where his sole remaining rival for the 2012 GP2 drivers championship was on the track. Once Valsecchi slotted in front of Razia after the mandatory pit stops, he was able to drive well within himself to lead the Brazilian to the finish line - and in doing so, he clinched the title.

Filippi was one of several drivers to pay for an early pit stop strategy with severe late-race tyre degradation. After a late second pit stop for new tyres, he ended up over doing it and locking up his brakes, leaving his car embedded in the barriers out of the final corner and resulting in a safety car.

The race ended up being time-limited to one hour, which meant that the race distance was 28 laps rather than the scheduled 34.
