Heavy rain once again hampered much of the day's running at the 2.892-mile, 16-turn Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain on Wednesday, the second of the final three-day pre-season test session for the GP2 teams and drivers.

ART's James Calado set the fastest time of the day in the morning session with a lap of 1:50.218s, while Johnny Cecotto Jr.'s 1:52.781s for Arden was the best of the afternoon times but still two and a half seconds off the earlier benchmark.

There were two new faces in pit lane for Wednesday's sessions, after Switzerland's Formula Two star Christopher Zanella had taken over from Luciano Bachetta for Russian Time, and Italian Formula Three champion Riccardo Agostini had displaced Pal Varhaug from the cockpit of his Hilmer Motorsport.

There were red flags in the morning for Stefano Coletti (Rapax), Daniel Abt (ART) and Cecotto, while in the afternoon the stoppages were down to Agostini, Julian Leal (Racing Engineering), Rene Binder (Venezuela GP Lazarus) and finally an encore performance from Abt 20 minutes from the end.
