Barcelona - Test times - March 7

7 March 2013

Much improved weather for the final day of GP2 testing at the Circuit de Catalunya meant that after an initial wait for the track to fully dry out, the teams were finally able to get down to some proper testing with the hard and soft slick tyres. Stefano Coletti set the best time of the morning with a lap of 1:29.055s in the Rapax, while Carlin's Felipe Nasr topped the afternoon times with a mid-session effort clocking in at 1:29.381s.

Sauber F1 test and reserve driver Robin Frijns opted to widen his GP2 experience by forsaking Trident Racing for a day at Russian Time. That almost left Trident on the sidelines as they only had Rodolfo Gonzalez due to drive for them, and he called in sick first thing but fortunately rallied to join the test later in the morning. By contrast, Hilmer Motorsport fielded three drivers with Conor Daly making an unexpected return to the squad in the afternoon in place of Riccardo Agostini, while Pal Varhaug was back for an entire day's run in the team's other car after missing out on Wednesday.

The improved track conditions meant that there were significantly fewer stoppages during the final day in Barcelona: the morning session saw only a single red flag for Rene Binder, while there were no interruptions at all in the afternoon.
