Silverstone: Practice times

Fabio Leimer topped the times on a still-wet Silverstone circuit in practice for this weekend's GP2 Series events.
The rain that had bedevilled F1 Free Practice 1 had stopped by the time the single half-hour GP2 Series practice session got underway at noon, meaning that while the 3.667-mile track started off treacherously wet it wasn't long before a drier line started to emerge, and only in the corners or when cars ventured offline were rooster tails still apparent.

Racing Engineering's Fabio Leimer posted the top time in the first half of the session, but then watched from pit lane as he sank back down the timesheets as conditions improved. allowing the whole field to go faster. Leimer finally turned out for his final run and posted a time of 1:57.996s (111.680mph) five minutes form the end which remained unbeaten to the chequered flag, although Hilmer's Robin Frijns and ART's James Calado got within half a second of his time and stopped Julian Leal from making it a Racing Engineering one-two.

While there were a few run-offs and white-knuckle slides during the session, there were no major incidents - quite an impressive feat in the inclement conditions.
