Nurburgring: Sprint race results

7 July 2013

One week after celebrating a home victory in the Silverstone sprint race, Jon Lancaster liked the feeling of being on the top step so much that he thought he'd do it all over again by claiming a second consecutive Sunday win for Hilmer Motorsport with victory at the Nurburgring.

He controlled the gap to second-place man James Calado (ART), with Fabio Leimer marshalling a set of pre-worn tyres on the Racing Engineering #8 to the remaining podium position after holding off Carlin's Felipe Nasr in the closing laps.

Less fortunate with tyre wear were Marcus Ericsson (DAMS) and Stefano Coletti (Rapax) who both plummeted out of the top ten during the course of the 24-lap race, while Tom Dillmann's own tyre problems were rendered moot when his Russian Time car suffered gear selection issues forcing him to retire mid-race.

Also ending the day early was Hilmer Motorsport's Robin Frijns, who was on a strong comeback drive after a poor start when he clashed with Russian Time's Sam Bird and damaged his suspension.
