GP3 Hungary: Race results

Koiranen GP's Aaro Vainio put in a dominant display on Saturday to secure pole position and then lead race 1 from lights-to-flag, while on Sunday morning Robert Visoiu pulled off a similar feat to win race 2.
MW Arden's Daniil Kvyat set the early pace in Hungary in practice on Friday afternoon, but it was Koiranen GP's Aaro Vainio who claimed pole position on Saturday morning to ensure that he would head the front row at the Hungaroring alongside ART's Conor Daly, with Kvyat settling for the second row in third place with Vainio's team mate Kevin Korjus.

Vainio went on to successfully convert his pole to race 1 with a lights-to-flag run on Saturday, with the top three finishing in the same order in which they had qualified but ART's Jack Harvey managing to overhaul Kvyat for fourth place by the flag. Carlin's Luis Sa Silva and Trident's Emanuele Zonzini failed to finish after a nasty accident late in the race that saw Zonzini fly over the back of Silva's car that triggered a safety car but neither driver was injured.

MW Arden's Robert Visoiu picked up the pole position for Sunday's second race, and like Vainio he was able to run the entire race in the lead and come home with his second race win of the season for the team after finishing over four seconds clear of his team mate Carlos Sainz Jr. Korjus claimed the remaining podium position for Koiranen GP at the end of a race that saw a late safety car following contact between Bamboo Engineering teammates Melville McKee and Lewis Williamson which led to a two-lap dash to the flag at the restart.

Despite narrowly missing out on the podium on race 2, a double points weekend for ART's Facu Regalia boosts him into second place in the championship just one point behind Marussia Manor Racing's Tio Ellinas who failed to score at all this weekend at the Hungaroring.

Winning second race Robert Visoiu has made me proud as compatriot. Still a long way to go for watching a F1 race in homeland. However another new from WRC-ERC-Sibiu race- comes to confirm that we are in the game.
