Singapore: Feature race results

Jolyon Palmer recovered from a bad start in the Singapore feature race to beat his team mate Felipe Nasr to the chequered flag for his second feature race win in 2013 for Carlin.
As the lights went out for the start of the Saturday afternoon feature race in Singapore, Felipe Nasr got a perfect start off the front row of the grid to lead into turn 1 while his Carlin team mate Jolyon Palmer bogged down and fell to fourth place. That allowed Racing Engineering's Fabio Leimer to jump into second place while ART's James Calado clattered over the T1 chicane to take up an impressive third after the usual scramble through the opening corners of the 3.14 mile, 23-turn Marina Bay Circuit street course.

Palmer quickly bounced back from his dreadful start and worked his way back up to second place again by lap 4. Nasr was able to retain the lead despite a slow mandatory pit stop on lap 9, but in the second half of the race Palmer was clearly the faster of the two cars and Nasr had to work hard to stay ahead as the pair pulled out a half-minute lead over Calado, Leimer and the rest.

Palmer finally passed Nasr for the lead on lap 24 and the Brazilian's attempt to counter-attack was foiled by a huge lock-up. With his tyres now totally at end-of-life status, Nasr had no way back to the front after that and was denied what would have been his maiden GP2 win which went instead to Palmer at the chequered flag.

Despite struggling on worn tyres, Calado held on to third while Leimer succumbed to a late charge from DAMS' Stephane Richelmi for fourth. Leimer did extend his points lead over his chief rival for the title, Russian Time's Sam Bird, who had a relatively dismal day of it - but who did succeed in claiming eighth place from MP Motorsport's Dani Clos and hence the sprint race pole under reverse grid rules, giving him hopes of rescuing something from a poor weekend so far for the Briton.
