Another of 2012's rookie generation, the 22-year-old Dutch driver moved to the GP2 Series after a solid season in Formula 3 Euro Series with Mücke Motorsport. That had led to an unremarkable appearance with DAMS in last year's post-season GP2 Final at Abu Dhabi and then to a full race seat withOcean Racing Technology in this year's GP2 championship. The first half of the season was typical rookie fare which saw him fail to score any points, but he proved himself a safe pair of hands with only two retirements during this early stretch. His best run came in consecutive weekends at Silverstone and Hockenheim which saw him in the points for all four races, but after that it was back to anonymity for the remainder of the season. It remains to be seen whether he's done enough to get an improved race seat for 2013, and what he'll be able to do with it should he get one.
