Season Driver: Charles Pozzi

Charles Pozzi

A shrewd motor dealer who traded in luxury cars after the war, Pozzi was briefly associated with Paul Vallée’s Ecurie France before leaving together with Eugène Chaboud. The pair formed their own team, Ecurie Leutitia, usually fielding Delahayes, with one of which Pozzi won the 1949 Comminges GP at St Gaudens. In 1950 he shared Rosier’s Talbot in the French GP, but for the most part he confined himself to sports cars, winning the Casablanca 12 Hours in a Talbot in 1952.

During 1953-54 he raced François Picard’s Ferrari, before pressure of business forced his retirement, as he was by now the importer for both Chrysler and Rolls-Royce in France. He maintained his interest in the sport for many years and, having become the Ferrari importer, he entered Daytonas and 512Bs at Le Mans throughout the seventies.
