Jan Flinterman

Decorated Dutch Spitfire pilot and post-war chief of Holland’s fighter pilot school who turned his hand to motor racing and became the first Dutchman to contest a Grand Prix, driving an Escuderia Baneirantes entered Maserati A6GCM in the 1953 Dutch Grand Prix. His own car broke down so he took over Brazilian Francisco Landi’s and finished ninth after his fifteenth-placed start. Later became MD of Dutch airline Martinair. Also broke speed records.
