Vincenzo Sospiri

The Lola chassis manufacturer made its Formula One debut with a car that seemingly hadn't seen the inside of a wind-tunnel. It was rather slow as 1995 European F3000 champion Sospiri discovered. Lola's plan was ambitious with the idea of a self-built engine, all funded by Mastercard money. The dream didn't last long and Sospiri moved to IRL and then Sportscar drives. His progress to F1 had been hard fought after impressing through the junior ranks and in F3 before taking his F3000 title.
