EXCLUSIVE Darren Law, Brumos - Q&A

Darren Law was one of the drivers with reason to smile at Daytona after seeing team-mate David Donohue secure victory for Brumos Racing in the Rolex 24.

Crash.net spoke to him afterwards to get his thoughts…

Crash.net:
A fantastic battle throughout with the sister car and the Ganassi entry. How pleased are you with the success?

Darren Law:
We are very, very, very pleased with it. It's a big deal for Brumos being based in Jacksonville. We have said it before, but this is like a home track so it is a big deal in that respect. For David, his dad won here 40 years ago and we were knocking on the door all year last year and its nice to finally do it.

Crash.net:
A race with a lot of caution periods meant your rivals could stay close so how challenging did you find it?

Darren Law:
This is probably the hardest 24 hour race I've ever done. The pace was very fast and we had to drive very hard. The yellows really played into it as it didn't give anyone the chance to break away and they came into play at just the right time to keep the field bunched up. I think that's why there were so many cars on the lead lap in the final stages.

Crash.net:
In the final stages, watching David battle Juan, how was that to watch?

Darren Law:
You know what; I didn't! Buddy, myself and Antonio stood behind the tent as we couldn't watch. It was nerve wracking.

Crash.net:
How does this win compare to your previous successes?

Darren Law:
This is the biggest for me. This is very enjoyable.

Crash.net:
And how does it set you up for the remainder of the season?

Darren Law:
You know, it's a long season and who knows what will happen. At least we start the season leading the points and if you look at the teams who have won the championship in the past, you have to do well at Daytona. So this is a good start for us.
