Darren Turner will compete in the Brumos Porsche 250 at Daytona International Speedway this Saturday following a last minute call up by Krohn Racing to take in the latest round of the Grand-Am Rolex Series.

Turner is no stranger to the Krohn Racing Daytona Prototype, or indeed the Daytona International Speedway, as he has already competed in two 24-hour races there.

In 2008 he finished fourth on his debut and in January this year he was running third when engine problems forced the team into retirement after six hours.

After enjoying the experience of the Daytona 24 Hours, Turner is delighted to be re-joining the Krohn Racing team, alongside Nic Jönsson, in the #76 Krohn Racing Ford Lola.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the two times I raced with Krohn before,” he confirmed. “The Grand-Am Series is great and it's good to work with Nic (Jönsson) and the other guys on the team.

“I have only done 24-hour races in Grand-Am so it will be interesting to see how different a sprint race will be.

“You have to pace yourself in a 24-hour race, in order to preserve the car, but I imagine in this race we'll all be flat out and the racing will be ferocious.

“I know the car has had some good results since I last drove it in January so I am looking forward to getting back behind the wheel to see how it has developed.”

Saturday is going to be a hectic day for Turner as everything happens in one day for the Grand-Am runners. Practice and qualifying take place in the morning, before the main race at 2pm. The Brumos Porsche 250 at Daytona is a 250-mile race, or two hours and thirty minutes, whichever comes first.
