Milka Duno and Patrick Carpentier will hope to build on a second place finish in the Rolex 24 when the Grand Am Rolex Series returns to action this weekend in Mexico City.

The pair, along with Darren Manning and Ryan Dalziel, took the #11 Pontiac Riley Daytona prototype to a fine podium finish at Daytona after a nearly flawless performance over the gruelling 24-hour race last month.

The strong finish was especially significant for Duno as she earned the highest finish by a female driver in the event's 45-year history - as well as the highest finish by a female driver in a major race at the famed Daytona International Speedway.

Now she heads to one of her favourite venues on the calendar with hopes of improving on the Daytona result.

"The event in Mexico City has very quickly become one of my favourite races each year," she said. "The fans are so incredibly supportive and really very knowledgeable about our racing. It's such great fun to race with them and to see them in the paddock and in the stands.

"We've got a lot of positive energy with us from our success at Daytona that we will carry with us and the team has been working very hard. I think Patrick will really enjoy his return to Mexico and it will be great to share that with him. We had a taste of victory in our last race so I know we'll be doing all that we can to succeed in Mexico!"

Team-mate Carpentier, who has raced in Mexico numerous times himself, said he was looking forward to returning to the venue for the first time since his Champ Car days.

"I'm looking forward to this race," he said. "I haven't been to Mexico in a while - the last time was with Champ Car. I like the idea that we will not go through the stadium and take the fast corner before the last one. I've always enjoyed fast corners. It will also be good to see the team again. Now the regular season is really starting!"
