Grand-Am: Ruby Tuesday set for Mexican bow.

The Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team will make its first-ever trip south of the border this weekend to take part in the second round of the Grand-Am Rolex Series in Mexico City.

Jörg Bergmeister and Patrick Long will pilot the Alex Job Racing prepared #23 Porsche powered Crawford Daytona Prototype in the event and while Long hasn't raced at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez before, Bergmeister finished second in the race last season while driving for Krohn Racing.

"To put the car on the podium, you need to have a quick car and a clean race from the drivers and the pit crew," the German said. "If we can put it all together, I think we will have a good shot at a podium finish.

"I really like the track. It is very challenging and technical for a driver, especially in the Esses. It is hard to find the 'perfect line.' On the front straight, you would like to have little down force. But, in the Esses, you would like to have as much as you can get. At this track, you need to find the right compromise."

While he lacks the experience of his team-mate, Long admitted that he too was excited about the second race on the Rolex Series calendar.

"It will be my first race in Mexico City, but Jörg has a lot of experience at that track," he said. "I think he will be able to get a pretty quick baseline of how we need to set up the car and help me get up to speed. It seems like a great track. I look forward to the race. It will be fun to bring Ruby Tuesday south of the border."
