TRG suffer rare `off` weekend.

Team TRG had an unusually out of sorts performance in the Brumos Porsche 250 at Daytona International Speedway, the GT class front runners having to put up with ninth and twelfth place finishes.

Looking for a third consecutive win in the Porsche 911 GT3, RJ Valentine qualified well and stayed onto the leap lap before handing over the controls to Andy Lally. Lally duly proceeded to climb the order only to pick up a puncture.

Together with a further pit lane penalty, Lally and Valentine would have to contend with ninth in class, while the second car of Jim Lowe and Jim Pace finished just behind in twelfth position.

It was a tough event for the No. 67 TRG entry, having suffered a fire during testing last weekend at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham. The car was to be driven at Daytona by team-mates Scott Tucker and Ed Zabinski.

A myriad of electrical gremlins lingered however, as a result of the effort needed to extinguish the test-session fire. Although it was the first time in history that a TRG entry was unable to take the green flag, repairs are nearly complete and the team will be back with a strong three-car lineup for the upcoming race in Iowa.
