Tracy aims to shine on home soil

Paul Tracy will be keen to make an impression as the IndyCar Series heads to his home town of Toronto this weekend for the first of back-to-back races in Canada.

Tracy heads to Toronto this weekend for what will be his third outing of the year with the KV Racing Technology outfit aiming to show the kind of speed that left him well placed for a top ten finish at Watkins Glen, prior to going off and damaging the #15 car.

With 16 starts in Toronto already under his belt, Tracy will be one of the most experienced racers on track and he says he can't wait to hit the track.

“I am excited to be racing in my hometown again,” he admitted, “Racing in Canada has always been very important to me - I really appreciate all the fan support I get here and to be able to race in support of Wounded Warriors.ca is an honour. I want to thank the Ontario Honda Dealers, Kevin Kalkhoven and Jimmy Vasser for this opportunity.

“Last weekend's race in Watkins Glen didn't go the way we wanted, but it gave me a chance to get back in the car and I think that will help a lot this weekend. KVRT is a very strong team and, under the leadership of Mark Johnson, I think we have a realistic chance at a top-five finish this weekend.”

Tracy will team again with Mario Moraes in a two-car effort for KVRT this weekend. Moraes, who will be making his first start on the streets of Toronto, qualified a career-high fourth last weekend at Watkins Glen, although an incident saw him finish back in 14th.

“The KV Racing Technology team gave me a very fast car last weekend, but it was just too bad the way the race turned out,” the Brazilian sighed, “The team has worked very hard and we know that we have the car and the ability to have a good performance.

“This will be my first race in Toronto but last week, surprisingly, I was the one with more experience and got to help Paul with his first race at Watkins Glen, so hopefully he will return the favour this weekend.”
