Servia joins Power in green and gold

There will be a two-pronged attack from Team Australia at next weekend's Nikon Indy 300, with the green-and-gold livery of the Aussie Vineyards-backed team running on the cars of both Will Power and Oriol Servia as IndyCar racing hits Surfers Paradise.

The two KV Racing Technology cars were unveiled in the pit-lane of the Gold Coast street circuit today [Sunday], with Power on hand to kick start the build-up to the non-championship showpiece. While the Australian has run his national sporting colours all season - and in Champ Car prior to that - Servia's #5 machine ran in a silver, orange and blue livery for much of the year, before switching to a red-and-white scheme for the Chicagoland finale last month as CDW came on board as a sponsor. For the team's adopted 'home' race, however, the Spaniard will join Power in green and gold.

“I think its great Oriol and I will both be flying the flag for Aussie Vineyards and Team Australia at the Nikon Indy 300 next week,” Power admitted, “I know that Oriol loves this event, so it's good that he will be able to join me in running the green and gold next weekend. I'm sure the massive Aussie crowd will cheer him on.”

At last year's event, Servia went fastest in Friday qualifying, having only just rejoined the then PKV Racing team, before Power secured his second consecutive Gold Coast pole on Saturday, giving the pair the front row of the grid for Sunday's race.

“Hopefully, we can both do just as well this year,” Power smiled, “It will be extremely tough to match that performance because this year's field is arguably the toughest in the 18-year history of this event, but our aim is to win, so we will see how we go.”
