IL: Battistini starts Sam Schmidt test

Dillon Battistini has completed the opening day of a two-day test session with the Sam Schmidt Motorsport team as he evaluates his options for the 2009 Indy Lights season.

Invited to test with the team by owner Sam Schmidt, who is keen to get him on board for 2009, Battistini joined Charlie Kimball for a day of running on the Homestead road course and posted the quickest time of the drivers on track.

The drivers now have a day off before the test resumes on Friday on the Homestead oval layout.

“It was great to be back behind the wheel,” Battistini said. “It is two months since the last race, and it always feels good to be on top of the time sheets. I am really enjoying working with Sam Schmidt Motorsport and I thank Sam for the opportunity.

“Chris and Tim are great guys to work with on the engineering side and I am looking forward to the oval on Friday”
