Andretti extends AGR deal

Andretti Green Racing has confirmed that it has re-signed Marco Andretti to drive the #26 IndyCar Series entry in the 2009 season.

Andretti will once again be part of a four driver line-up for the team alongside Tony Kanaan, Danica Patrick and Hideki Mutoh as he gets set for his fourth year of IndyCar competition.

The 21-year-old finished seventh in the standings last season and said he had a point to prove heading into the 2009 campaign.

"I'm really looking forward to 2009 at Andretti Green,” he said. “As a team, we have a lot to prove next year and I want to be a big part of that. I learned a lot last year that I can build on going forward and have every reason to believe that we can be a factor all year long."

Team co-owner Michael Andretti added that he expected big things from his son during the new season.

"It's good to get Marco's contract done,” he said. “He is a big part of the future of our team and is someone that we expect big things from in 2009. As a team, we are working very hard to improve our entire programme for next season and Marco will play a big role in everything we achieve."
