Oh good, let him ruin US open wheel racing, destroy the best open wheel racing series on the planet, replace it with a highly substandard series in pathetic race cars with, mostly, pathetic drivers, and then get rid of him!

The reason IRL is viewed so badly is because Champ Car, before Tony George got involved, was a legendary series with legendary drivers, superb race cars (though the Panoz chassis wasnt as good as back in the CART days), superb venues, superb racing and was a firm fan favourite. It was replaced, by Tony George's greed, with sub-standard cars, drivers and racing. For that reason alone i will never watch the IRL and hope that someday an oil billionaire resurrects CCWS!

IndyCar » George still at IMS, focused on IRL

There has not been an attempt to remove Tony George from power at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, family statements claim.

Tony George should start a new openwheel series and boycott the Speedway and the CARTroaches nad OWRStards that have infected the Indy Racing League.

Tony took the Nascar approach after talking with France. Since that time he has brought open wheel in the states to a stand still. He spent 600 million since the break up for what. Floating a league instead of compromising. Not to mention he went to all ovals format for years. Hopefully the IRL is now on the up swing.

Huh!?! The IRL has become the, "premier open-wheel series in the US." It's bloody Formula Honda! There is no technical innovation! The Dallara is an OLD racing car!

"Premier open-wheel series in the US!" And NASCAR is the premier Touring Car series in the US. They are both over hyped vanilla Ice Cream!

At least Formula One and the ALMS and Le Mans Series feature cars that are different and like it or not, technologically cutting edge!

Jeepers! The IRL doesn't even use fuel made in the US! The Ethanol comes from Brazil!

Gimme a Break!

CART was being run into the ground. If it wasn't for Tony George starting up the IRL we would likely have ZERO top-level american open wheel series.

CART was trying to compete with F1 and was going more and more towards running road courses only when Tony split.

As is evidenced by history, Carts plans completely failed and they wen't bankrupt in the early 2000s. Just to be bought out by some other guys who simply ran it into the ground even more :)

Once the new Chassis/Engine combos come out in a couple of seasons (high horsepower, low downforce) Indy racing will be back at the top.

You realise that alot of the CART drivers from that time now race in the IRL yeah?? Got dumb comment, you certainly do.

I can't believe that ANYONE would watch this crap. The cars look like crap, sound like crap, they are wussed out, they don't run road courses. Compared to the dignity and grace of the heyday of OWR (CART in the 90's) this is ridiculous. You have lost me. Please watch Andretti's Super Speedway, get rid of that dork Tony George and please let's go back to the great days and then pick it up there and move forward. Who do you think you're kidding with this crap?????????????????

Tony George can help improve the image of the Indy Racing League by leaving! He has been of no help to the sport. He destroyed the greatest racing series in American history because he wanted to create a series with American drivers and all ovals. Well he has abandoned the entire premise of the original vision of the IRL and began to copy CART.

As long as the IRL continues to ignore Americas open-wheel heritage by abandoning its fans and tracks like at Burke Lakefront in Cleveland, OH, Road America and Laguna Seca this series will continue to struggle.

I was actually exited when the unification had occurred, now I long for the split to return because it was so much better than this.
