With all that is going right for a change in Indy Car, why do they have to screw with things (especially mid season. This is just a way to Keep a few drivers (Danica)higher up in the standings. What makes Indy Car interesting is having a champion that has mastered all forms of tracks. If you want to be an oval champion drive in Nascar.

I see no harm but not sure it'll add to any excitement..perhaps a team can mount a challenge in one 'series' but will that affect the whole spectacle when it's apparent they see little merit in going all out for 'both championships' and therefore the 'overall.' It was always obvious who the oval kings were, maybe I read this wrong but in the future could a team employ an oval specialist to mount solely a challenge for that one oval championship ??... 'Maxx' maybe you're right and the championship hopes of the likes of Danica need artificially boosting..I'm not convinced of the validity, not at all.

WTF are you going on about Danica for? She won't be anywhere near the highest point scorer in road/street courses or ovals so how the f'k is this going to keep her higher in the standings?

But if you actually read the article it says IndyCar will reward a bonus to the discipline champions. When is giving out money a bad thing? Also the fans get to name the trophies. When is having fan interaction a bad thing?

If anything it's probably pointless. I can't see anyone out of the the top 5 winning either one. No one is going to out score the Penske boys on the road/street courses and Penske and Ganassi will be the teams to beat on the ovals. There will be no surprise champions.

I like it. But as RawDawg said, I don't see any team other than Penske winning both.

Will Power will probably be the Road, Oval and Overall champion. This gives him (or any driver) a chance to make more money by winning one, or both racing disciplines - and try to win the overall title.
