St Petersburg was dominated by controversy over new-style restarts, with top drivers calling them dangerous while others hailed them for adding new excitement and overtaking opportunities.

Maybe this track wasn't the best place for the 1st race with double wide restarts, but, it was definitley better than the lead driver accelerating 1000 feet before the start finish line. Most of the wrecks were caused by someone not using their head, especially Marco Andretti. I think he got his racing genes from his mother's side of the family, because the talent level has been diluted from grandpa to dad to him. As for Danica, if you look at the first several restarts, when she was in about 16th place, she stayed single file, only starting double file when she made it up th 9th due to attrition. Keep the double wide starts for a least 5 races to really see if they work.

First race of the season of any series tends to throw up incidents.
Whats been forgotten is the biggest incident happended off the start which is a double wide start !
Great action at the beginning and a pulsating finish as Simona chased Tony Kannan for 3rd - not too impresssed by EJ Viso blocking...
Agree with Maxx - keep double wide starts for a few more races

So, what that drivers are saying is "We don't have the ability to work out braking points or drive a car when there are others around us"

Can drive at 200mph but can't do a low speed restart. Sigh.

I don't know if these double wide re-starts are going to work or not. I personally feel there is going to be way too much carnage, and they'll go back to single file re-starts. It's fantastic to have the Indy Car season going again! Looking forward to a great season, double wide or single file re-starts.

Let the santioning body gather all sorted out suggestions and propose them to the drivers....then let the drivers vote it up or down for a set numbers of races as a trial period.

It's their hides when stuff bad happens.
