JR is the one who should be fired, not his spotter.
Spotters tell the drivers what to do, but sometimes, those drivers do what they want to do, not what they're told to. Usually those guys end up kissing the wall and eventually hitting the road.
Still, 2nd. place in your first Indy 500 is really not that bad. Yes, he made a costly mistake, but the kid's got what it takes.
