IndyCar » Helio slams 'circus clown' Barnhart

Helio Castroneves is far from calming down over the harsh penalty he received at the end of the race at Motegi, and has labelled race director Brian Barnhart "a circus clown".

I am not defending Helio (can't stand him, really) but this article ignores the fact that the officiating is garbage to say the least. If the 'whingers' did not speak their minds in public, there would be zero attention paid to the ineptitiude of Barhart and Co. The series will continue it's slow and painful demise until a whole bunch of heads roll.

HC needs to think big picture, make some comments about inconsistency but be constructive, not whiny. RP would support that but not this attack that is only going to put him in a bad light with sponsors as well as RD

If he thinks that the indycar series is in the hands of a clown, he should give it a try at formula 1. Maybe next week Barnhart open a new consultation business too. These old cac are getting their pockets full.

It does rather look as though Indy are taking their example from F1, all the bad bits that is. Consistency and relevance to the incident with all penalties would be nice.

Also these organising bodies should realise that the Drivers and teams are more important than them, and protecting the organiser's image is not a big penalty issue.
Tinpot dictators should reduce their idea of their self importance. It is just like the local car club 'committee'.

Barnhart is a clown.

Just look at the penalties he applied to Briscoe, what a round or two before?, for taking out Hunter-Ray and then look at the penalty for Dario taking out Briscoe and two other cars in the process in Motegi...same incident, vastly different penalties.

No consistency what-so-ever the clown has got to go before he destroyes what is left of Indycar.

I'm not on anyone's side with this, so take this how you will.

Helio rants and raves about things not being consistant, but never once gives an example as to how. I couldn't find one example in this article where he was being treated unfailry compared to others. Was there someone else who passed on a yellow on the last lap that did receive the same penalty? If yes, he has a valid copmlaint. If no, I fail to see his complaint.

The rulebook was enforced as it was written, he passed on a yellow and now has to pay the price.
