Dallara are to produce new rear wheel guards for the 2012 IndyCar chassis for use on high speed ovals, the series announced Tuesday.

The cars are looking better all the time, and are much better than most of the new F1 cars. If the "bumpers" minimize needless rear punctures they are worth it. Hopefully there main purpose of preventing cars from taking flight works on the track.

If the intent is to stop one car launching over another and into the fences then who are we as fans to argue?

Ppl complain about the new look F1, which was also done in the name of safety, but if one car punctured another last year and split a driver in half, then no one would say boo.

IMO, the Indycar bumpers are a few years too late.
