IndyCar » Indy 500: Mann, Howard left on the sidelines

Two British drivers you won't be seeing in this year's Indianapolis 500 race are Pippa Mann and Jay Howard, and both are having to find new ways forward to get back into the series.

This is tough but not to be unexpected. Its clear from the beginning and in these recessionary times there are too many drivers chasing too few drives - hence the 'bumping' (or lack of it) this year, and this was a first??? 33 out of 33 cars entered...I'm sure when things improve there will be plenty of drives available, in the meantime best wishes to Mann and Howard

Terrific, two good drivers left on the side lines of this MINI kit car series. NO motors, NO IRL professional Mangement. Hopefully talented drivers will go sportscar racing,ALMS,plenty of cars & motors world wide. What a soap opera. Still a mess the past 12 years. No wonder redneck'S NASCAR racing kit cars is snagging the talent, money & sponsors.

@John - The reason the field is smaller than normal this year is due to the lack of engines. Honda and Chevrolet are pushed to the max on numbers. If Lotus would have been competitive, and produced some quantity we would have seen a real Bump Day as usual. Look for things to change next year with a bigger engine supply.

Unfortunate that Howard and Pippa are without rides, but that's racing.
