French tyre manufacturer Michelin has said that it is interested in stepping into the role of F1's exclusive supplier - but that the rules would need to be changed first.

It's not that simple.
I take photos for a living, & often what the client asks for in the brief seems a bit daft to me ... but they're the client, it's their business & they're paying me to give them what they want.

I'm forced to deliver the best work I can within those confines, even though I know it's not ultimately my best possible work.
There have been times I've declined the work because a bad outcome will ultimately come back to damage my reputation, even if it is exactly to spec ... & quite honestly I'm surprised Pirelli are sticking around, because that point arrived a long time ago for them.

Having said that ... I don't believe that the FIA have got the spec wrong.
NO it's not perfect yet, & they need to be open to working with the teams & tyre supplier to improve the weaknesses in the plan ... BUT, we have seen much more exciting racing in the last 2 seasons than what went before.

& aside from the on-track events at Silverstone, most of the bad publicity has come from teams who were not able to 'play within those regulations' & were following an agenda to try compensate.
This is where the FIA needed to be far more vocal in support of Pirelli for providing exactly what was asked for.
It is, after all, an FIA product whose development & manufacture is simply outsourced to a contractor. Pirelli cannot sell these tyres to anyone else as per their FIA contract.

Pirelli is an accomplice to the manipulations/directions given to the end results of this sports (F1).
Their arrogance stems from the fact that they know they will be backed by the chief manipulator and interference of what is supposed to be FIA matters.
Even them being the suppliers to F1 is a result of said barefaced interference in purely FI matters.
They were used to good effect by said interference of the chief manipulator of anything to do with F1 and its end result/s for the start of 2013, but when the results were pressured upon by those that were caught napping they were made use of to once again change the direction/goal posts midway through the season.
