IndyCar » 18-race 2014 season schedule unveiled

The IndyCar Series has unveiled its season schedule for 2014, which sees 18 races in total including the new road race at Indianapolis, but no outings to Sao Paulo or Baltimore.

Joat - there was a move away from an oval dominated calendar even before Dan Wheldon's death at LVMS.

The vast majority of oval tracks in the USA are owned by either SMI or ISC who only have one oval race on the IndyCar calendar (Texas and Fontana respectively) and their focus is NASCAR events. Indy, Milwaukee, Pocono and Iowa are not owned by either of those companies.
