It's sad to see posters abuse Tony for his frank and honest and accurate depictions.

Even more is comment #1 and I quote: "...shows V8 Supercar to be a partner the IRL shouldn't even bother with."

Nobody cares whom the irl wants to partner with.
This note is a *CLEAR* indication of whom V8 Supercars *DON'T* want to partner with.

It's much more important in the real world what real series with real TV coverage in their home country really want to do, not what Tony George does or does not want.

Reality. Welcome to it, irl shils.

IndyCar » V8 boss' Surfers Paradise missive - in full

In an open letter posted on the V8 Supercars website and distributed to the media, series chairman Tony Cochrane explains exactly why the 'guest' IndyCar category should be more willing to compromise on race dates:

Please explain the "Bend over backwards" comment. Facts only. This letter doesn''t show V8 Supercars in a very good light. It shows the leader of the series to be a whiner, not someone that wants to resolve the issue. Posting a letter in the press such as this shows V8 Supercar to be a partner the IRL shouldn''t even bother with. This is NOT the way to solve problems. Problems get solved behind closed doors, not in the press and not by making broad statements that can''t be verified with FACTS. Don''t let the facts get in the way of a good story ???????

V8 Supercars and A1GP is a much more appealing combination than anything involving IndyCar. The IRL is a regional series that has no appeal outside of the midwest United States, and Tony George's recent comments about wanting to "improve" the Surfer's weekend just indicates once again the lack of respect he has for the organizers and fans of this first-class event. I hope the organizers are talknig seriously to A1GP to partner up with, leaving IndyCar running in Iowa, Kentucky, and other backwaters where their underpowered sleds can run roundy-round oval races in front of empty stands.

Chris Paff has it right. Champ Car brought beautiful cars, beautiful turbo engines, close racing and excitement. The IRL would bring out of date, ugly cars with underpowered and ugly engines. And only two teams have a chance of winning.

The IRL might be able to fool Americans, but it won't fool the fans from Down Under. Get A1GpP in and leave the other sorry excuse for a racing series to drive themselves dizzy - just like Chris Paff says.

And isn't the V8 Supercar series a cracker? Why not export them to the US and show NasCab what a tin-top series really should look like. :)

If one thing should be learned from dealing with Tony George and the Mindy Racing League is that Mr. George has no interest in ANYTHING other than his IMS and the Indy 500 which he obviously thinks is the center of the known universe (A common problem to those living in Indianapolis). Do yourselves a favor and find another racing series to team up with. There can be nothing good for you coming from a partnership with the IRL or Tony George. He has destroyed American openwheel racing and is killing his own beloved Indy 500. If he do that much damage to his own race, just think how much damage he can do to yours.

If you want to watch slow cars parade in line, fine. The IRL cars on ovals is the Fastest racing anywhere in the WORLD, bar none. They have to continually slow them down because they are faster than human physical endurance.....can you say that about V8 Supercars or F1 or A1GP ????? No. Oh by the way, how about some FACTS as far as Oz land "bending over backwards" ? Didn't think so. I knew I would get a standard wimp answer of the type received but no facts. Don't bother posting without them.

Mr Colt, may I suggest you put the cool aid down. Fastest racing on ovals? Only because there is no other ow series racing on ovals. The current IRL car is a slug compared to what used to race on American ovals, and it's a slug on road and street courses, which the Aussie race is. An F1, or new Superleague car, or A1GP or GP2 will dust off your IRL slug without working up a sweat. Heck, even the Atlantics series cars are almost as fast and they are a feeder series. And if you want to talk about parades, that's where irl cars belong, in parades, because they hardly qualify as race cars.

cville colt, your logic is flawed. Unless the Surfers' promoters are planning on building a banked oval track, the speed of the IRL momentum sleds on ovals is irrelevant. The closed-course speed record for a race car is NOT held by a Honda/IRL lawn dart, and many sports cars are reaching higher top speeds than those IRL contraptions on the straight at LeMans. Why should the V8 Supercars compromise their business to suit the whims of a self-important twit like Tony George whose only accomplishment in life is being born into a family that happened to own a racetrack? A1GP has Australian content, an international profile and competitive racing. What's not to like, especially compared to IRL?

The IRL leaving negoitiations and offering two dates, none the original date in October really displays what a fool running IRL today. CCWS capitulates and now they think an event that have been a huge success for years and who already got one race with a regionally much much more successful series than the IRL, V8 supercars, will just change plans just like that because IRL feel a need to race in front of 20k Honda employees in Japan on a date that suits IRL!!! That is just outrageous.

When TG left the room the aussies probably bursted into laughter and someone said, so whadday say mates, why don't we give thia Maktoum-dude a call?
