SCOTT SHARP held onto the fastest time during the second day of qualifying for the 91st Indianapolis 500, with a time of 223.875mph, on Sunday.
The second eleven drivers took their place on the grid, three were bumped and two didn't make a run.
Sharp said: "The conditions were much better (Sunday) no doubt. We've made some good progress with the car, as well. You know, it is what it is. I've told the guys I've started on the pole, front row, second row and third row. That doesn't matter. It's how good our car is in race trim. We're going to work hard next week, continue what we've learned, and I think we'll be in good shape."
Again, there was late day drama. Three cars were on the bubble and two of them made second late runs. Herb failed, but BUDDY LAZIER bettered his earlier bumped time and made the bubble.
Those bumped Sunday, and left to try again next Saturday were AL UNSER Jr, Herb - bumped twice after two runs - and MARTY ROTH, who also made a second run. Two drivers didn't make a run - STEPHAN GREGOIRE and JAQUES LAZIER.
The second week of the Indy 500 starts Wednesday with the first of three days of practice, leading up to the third and final days of qualifying next weekend.
