On lap 113 of the 91st Indianapolis 500, rain caused a red flag. It came on the heels of the caution for the crash of JOHN ANDRETTI on lap 99 and then the crash of PHIL GIEBLER on lap 106. The caution stayed out for the red flag brought on by the rain.
BRIAN BARNHART, Indy Racing League vice-president of competition, just announced that the weather will be reviewed every fifteen minutes. There are 87 laps to run, and IRL will work backwards from the 7:30pm IRL drop dead finish time, and keep us informed.
Meanwhile, the drivers are all out of their cars, back in the garage, resting, etc. The crews cannot work on the cars during the red flag.
MILKA DUNO and Andretti have both been cleared to drive, while RYAN BRISCOE is fine after his crash.
