As the next step in its search for the new iconic IZOD IndyCar Series car, the IRL has announced plans to develop an advisory committee to recommend a future chassis and engine platform.

The hiring of an Air Force general, seems like those dastardly delta wing cars are going to be a reality. Put a jet man in charge, and he is going to choose the thing that looks like a jet.

Why cant they just invite all the chassis manufacturers, give them a template to fit into, tell them to slap any engine that will fit into it (sticking to a limit of course), put any tires you want on it, and get some better drivers.....

Oh wait that's was indy car in the 80's and early pre split 90's..when the sport rivaled nascar and even F1 in popularity.

If global motorsports are going to survive, they have to get off of this cost cutting soapbox.
