The IndyCar officials have stuck to their decision not to give F1 veteran Rubens Barrichello full rookie status in the US series, but will allow him extra track testing time.

What the hell are you on about? Noone gets extra rookie practice time in F1, the concept of rookie orientation simply does not exist in F1 so it's a non-issue right there. Perhaps it SHOULD exist but that's a whole different question. In IndyCar it does exist, and Rubens is an IndyCar rookie so he should get it, regardless of what happens when/if someone makes the switch the other way around.
