13 of the cars taking part in Indy 500 qualification over the weekend have been found in violation of series rules, and will have to pay a number of fines to IndyCar.

Sounds to me like someone has suddenly become fearful that Indycar has become the proverbial dead horse to be flogged and has decided to rip as much money off the teams that still have some before it falls over.

If they had found these things in post-race inspections and it was obvious they weren't there in pre inspections then sure, fine them... but before they had even qualified???
