Dario Franchitti was involved in a huge last-lap accident in the second race of the Houston double-header event on Sunday and sent to hospital, but has escaped serious injury. (Updated)

F1 began as a constructors championship, the drivers were secondary.
It's not the technology in terms of mechanical and electrical advances that's killing F1 it's artificially induced aerodynamic downforce.
It needs to be excluded from motorsports altogether, cars need to run neutral Aero so they can follow each other through bends, at slower speeds which is safer, and enable proper slipstreaming.
Darios crash is in part, exacerbated by Aero. As soon as the massive forces pushing the car into the tarmac are released when he hit the back of Sato, that energy has to go somewhere and that's accelerating the car further into the crash.
