Conquest, DRR sign Long Beach sponsors.

Conquest Racing and IndyCar Series rivals Dreyer & Reinbold have both landed new commercial partnerships for this weekend's Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

Conquest will team up with the Las Vegas branch of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino chain to promote an all-new version of concert venue The Joint, which re-opens this month.

“We couldn't be more pleased to add a highly regarded company like the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, to our family of sponsors,” said Bachelart. “With all the entertainment and great concerts, plus the casino which is amongst the best in Vegas, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is a must see for anyone who goes to Las Vegas.

Conquest also welcomed the support of a couple of other new partners, with ODW Logistics and TorcUP of Canada joining the team for this weekend's race.

“Promoting a one of a kind concert venue like The Joint at a historical and distinguished race like the Grand Prix of Long Beach is a perfect fit,” team boss Eric Bachelart commented, "but we are also very grateful to ODW Logistics and TorcUP of Canada to be supporting us this weekend in Long Beach. Hopefully, we can thank them with a good result on Sunday.”

Dreyer & Reinbold, meanwhile, announced that its relationship with Emu Australia continues to grow as they enter into the 2009 season together. The Australian company joined forces as a sponsor partner with DRR last year and will come back on board for 2009 as primary sponsor on Mike Conway's #24 machine in Long Beach.

“This announcement says a lot about the product we offer,” team co-owner Robbie Buhl said, “Emu Australia joined us as an associate sponsor partner at the start of 2008, and to see them continue to make the leap up to a primary role again for the race in Long Beach is great."

Conquest boss Bachelart, meanwhile, has been named as honorary starter for Saturday's Firestone Indy Lights race. The ex-pat Belgian - won the first-ever Firestone Indy Lights race, at Long Beach in 1991, before going on to claim the inaugural title - will wave the initial green flag and be honoured before the start of the race..

“I'd like to start by saying that I am touched to be honoured by Firestone this weekend," he admitted, "I can't believe that it's already been 18 years since I won my first Firestone Indy Lights race.

"Long Beach has always been a special place to go to, not just because of the memories I have, but because there is always such a great atmosphere. We had a good result last season there in the Champ Cars and we've done really well in our last IndyCar Series street course races, so I feel pretty confident heading into the weekend.”
