Ali Jackson has quit his Firestone Indy Lights ride with Guthrie Meyer Racing to join the team currently topping the entrants' standings, RLR/Andersen Racing, for the balance of the 2009 season.

It is a return of sorts for the Irish driver, who tested with RLR/Andersen in late 2008, but found himself signing with Guthrie Meyer and contesting the opening four rounds of the 2009 campaign with Jim Guthrie and Butch Meyer's multi-car operation.

RLR/Andersen co-owner Dan Andersen confirmed that the agreement with Jackson is effective immediately, with his first 'official' day as part of the squad coming today [5 May] as he joins existing drivers Jonathan Summerton and Mario Romancini for the opening day of preparations for the Freedom 100 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway later this month.

"We tested Ali at Sebring in the off-season and found him to be very talented and fast, and we're pleased to be able to add him to our line-up," Andersen said, "Our three drivers will all benefit from each other's efforts and data, and we believe Ali will bring good feedback and results to the team."

The 20-year old Belfast native has not enjoyed the smoothest start to his Indy Lights career, having graduated from F3 in both Britain and Asia. Contact in two of the opening four races - including a couple of heavy accidents at Kansas Speedway two weekends ago - sandwich a best finish of sixth at Long Beach. He currently lies
16th in the point standings, but hopes that a switch to RLR/Andersen - which moved to the head of the team standings courtesy of strong results from both Summerton and Romancini - will bring better fortune.

"While I wish Guthrie Meyer Racing all the best, I'm very excited to be joining RLR/Andersen Racing - they're a great bunch of guys," Jackson said, "I tested with the team at Sebring last year and I was very impressed. Dan Andersen worked hard with my management to get the deal done, and I would like to thank him for that. Hopefully, all the hard work will pay off with race wins."

Jackson's will now move to the #6 car, backed by the Moyvalley Hotel & Golf Resort in Kildare, Ireland.
