RH-R only on loan at Foyt..

Ryan Hunter-Reay has revealed that his switch from Vision Racing to AJ Foyt's eponymous outfit is not permanent, but rather designed to help both parties get through a difficult mid-season period.

Having seen his 2009 campaign rescued at the last minute when Vision Racing stepped in to give him a ride, Hunter-Reay has struggled to match the podium performance he produced in St Petersburg, culminating in rather anonymous outings at Indianapolis, Milwaukee and Texas. Foyt, meanwhile, lost his one and only driver, Vitor Meira, to a season-ending crash at the Brickyard.

With Paul Tracy's relationship with the Texan cut short after Foyt admitted he was embarrassed with the car he provided for the former Champ Car champion, and AJ Foyt IV's return to the fold a one-off for Fort Worth, Hunter-Reay has become the latest stop-gap in the #14 entry after his future with Vision was again clouded by finances.

"I'm still a Vision Racing driver," RH-R told the official IndyCar website, "We were expecting some sponsorship and business-to-business deals to come to fruition - and they were - but it's just a little bit further on the horizon.

"Everybody has been working so hard on that programme to make it work in the right way, [and] I have every confidence that will happen, [but] Tony [George] was straight up with me at every point. When he said 'I have a situation that might work for you, what do you think?', I said 'that works for us'. I think what's happened is great - to finish off the year filling in for Vitor. We're all wishing Vitor a speedy recovery, whilst I get to go in there and make whatever impact I can."

Elsewhere, driver rumours continued to come and go, with 2004 IRL rookie of the year Kosuke Matsuura appearing at this weekend's Iowa Speedway event in search of someone to run him - and primary sponsor Autobacs - in September's Indy Japan 300 at Twin Ring Motegi.

"After '07, I came back to Japan and joined Formula Nippon, and this year I'm doing touring cars, but I want to meet some of the [IndyCar] teams," the veteran admitted, "I'm especially interested in Dale Coyne, Luczo Dragon Racing and KV, [and] I think I can put something together to race at Motegi."

With Richard Antinucci finally making his IndyCar debut after inking a deal to join Team 3G for the Watkins Glen road course race, and Tracy confirmed for a second KVRT outing ahead of his Canadian double-header, comes the rumour that Will Power will resume his stop-start campaign with further appearances in the third Penske entry, backed by Verizon Wireless, in both Toronto and Edmonton.
