Extra Power for Penske

Penske Racing has confirmed that Will Power will have five more outings with the team through the remainder of the IndyCar Series season.

Power signed with the team at the start of the season to act as a substitute for Helio Castroneves as he went through his trail for tax evasion, but then gave up the seat once Castroneves returned to action at Long Beach.

In all, Power contested three of the first four races this season and took a pole and three top-ten finishes, and the Australian will now take part in the races at Toronto, Edmonton, Kentucky, Sonoma and Homestead-Miami before the end of the year.

“I am really looking forward to getting back on the track and driving for Penske Racing,” I have learned so much working with everyone on the team this season, and I plan to make the most of this opportunity to drive the Penske Truck Rental car at these five upcoming races and help the team however I can.”

Team boss Roger Penske said he was delighted to give Power the chance to return to the car for further races as the season heads towards its conclusion.

“Will has done a terrific job for Penske Racing and he has earned the opportunity to compete in more races,” he said. “Will is a great asset to the team, and we are excited to have him compete at these additional five races in the Penske Truck Rental Indy car.”
