Moraes set to miss Mid-Ohio

KV Racing Technology driver Mario Moraes is set to miss the latest round of the IndyCar Series this weekend at Mid-Ohio following the death of his father.

Moraes' father, Mario Ermirio de Moraes, was admitted to hospital earlier this week but lost his fight with cancer late yesterday [Wednesday] at the age of 50.

The burial is due to take place today, with reports from Brazil stating that Moraes won't be returning to the US in time for the race at Mid-Ohio and will spend more time with his family.

“On behalf of the entire KV Racing Technology organisation we wish to express our deepest sympathy to Senhora Nidia Maria Faustino de Moraes, Mario, his sisters Fabiana and Natalia and the entire family for their loss,” a statement from KVRT team co-owners Kevin Kalkhoven and Jimmy Vasser read.
